A whole platform, not a ride button
This is everything built into Mama's Ride today, grouped the way a family actually uses it.
Booking
More than one way to get your child there, depending on your day.
A scheduled ride
Point to point at a time you choose. You see the fare before you confirm, and the confirmation reaches you well before the ride.
Recurring rides
Set the school week once: the days, the times and the place. After that the rides generate themselves, and you can pause or change them whenever you want.
Flash rides
A captain heading your way with room for one more posts the ride, and the families who have her as a favourite get a notification.
Your favourite captain
Once you have finished a ride with a captain you can make her a favourite, and bookings go to her first. The same face every day matters to children.
Promo codes
Enter a code before you confirm and it comes straight off the fare.
Safety
Not a feature in the app. The ground the whole thing stands on.
Three codes per ride
A code at pick-up, a code to start the ride, and a code to hand over. The captain holds only the arrival code; the other two have to come from the family in person, so nobody can start or close a ride without someone actually standing there.
A live camera inside the car
A live feed from inside the car for the whole ride. We build on the JT/T 808 and 1078 commercial camera standards, and the streaming server is ours, not bought off a shelf.
Live tracking
Where the car is and when it will arrive, refreshed for as long as the ride is running.
An emergency button
Available to the mother, the captain, and the child if they have an account. The moment it is pressed it reaches the operations room with an alarm, and it does not stop until somebody picks it up.
Alarms that raise themselves
An attempt to close the app, camera tampering, a route deviation, or an unexpected stop: each one raises an incident without anyone pressing anything.
A vehicle check before every ride
A captain cannot set off until she has passed the vehicle check, and the check only stays valid for a set period before it has to be done again.
Approved guardians
You decide who besides you is allowed to receive your child: the grandmother, the aunt, the school supervisor. Nobody else can.
Privacy
What does not need to be seen is not seen.
Numbers hidden on both sides
Calls between the mother and the captain connect without either one seeing the other's number.
Chat that closes after the ride
The chat between mother and captain closes a short while after the ride. After that, contact goes through support.
Limited child data
The captain sees the child's name, age, school and the medical notes that concern her, and nothing else. The home address, treatment details and everything else never reach her.
Camera control
Watching the camera is your call, and you can turn it off from the privacy settings.
Family and account
Small things that change an ordinary day.
A child's own account
Older children can have an account they book from, and no booking goes through without your approval.
Wallet and transfers
A wallet for the family, and you can move money into your child's wallet so they can book on their own without cash.
A notification for every step
The captain confirmed, set off, arrived, the ride started, the ride finished. Each one reaches you as it happens.
A rating after every ride
Rate the captain and the car, and it counts towards which captains get the work.
And I Have a Hero
An initiative that carries children with cancer and their mothers to and from Hospital 57357 at no fare, with the family setting their own times around their treatment sessions. It is funded by a share of the profit on every ordinary ride in the app.
